i will answer some of these questions that are in here there are is just one um supply chain issues is like the automakers start to shift production great question um and and one that i think is certainly important to ask yes is the short answer there will be supply chain issues as legacy automakers try to like de-legacy themselves but you know that all being said mary was pretty emphatic in saying that um they have the capacity to shift their production they have the know-how they're actively retraining their employees to um to do that but there is like this unfortunate reality that people are probably going to lose their jobs you need a different skill set often to make an electric vehicle than you might to make a traditional internal combustion engine so coming to grips with that is not going to be easy but this is a trend that we see in so many industries across the economy in the united states and abroad as tech changes the skills that workers need changes as well um and it's shitty at times like it can be really tough it can be really hard to say you don't know how to build this battery you're out of a job that you've had for 30 years ideally these companies are putting infrastructure in place to train those people to retrain those people to make them feel empowered to shift into a new kind of position that is of course the perfect world example and scenario not the realistic one so yeah the supply chain will certainly have to shift and along with it the people who work for those companies there are some really really interesting and frankly complicated supply chain issues with electric vehicles in terms of um like that or the actual batteries themselves they can be really expensive to make and they take a lot different like natural resources than a traditional engine would um and that will certainly be a question that these automakers have to ask themselves like where are we sourcing these things are we sourcing them responsibly number one and number two like can we get them where we need them to be for an effective price one that we can can stomach um okay okay well thank you i guess um does a tesla merger make sense for a smaller or larger legacy automaker neither would be my my first um answer i think that for a company like tesla um i don't see it necessarily like merging with anybody right away question mark it's such a wild card company you really you don't you don't know what's coming next i am curious though to see what the cyber truck is actually like um yeah i agree someone says tesla's too big now i agree it would like certainly raise antitrust issues but um traditionally in the auto sector like that's not that big of a deal like it hasn't been that big of a deal to regulators because there are the big three in the united states and like certainly the big ones abroad too um i can't imagine that anybody would give the okay for tesla to merge with something like a gm tesla's like bigger than gm um and certainly gets more investor attention i love that all these questions are tesla questions you guys are really making me work for it i used to cover tesla a lot in like a previous life and i'm trying to remember all that i can about it not even profitable yet like what like what is right but as we have learned time and again a company doesn't need to be profitable to get investor attention um and oftentimes it's not necessarily are they profitable or not it's do they have a path to profitability are they um using that that actual time that they're not profitable to reinvest in the right ways to reinvest in the company to invest in their own growth etc um it's a little bit more nuanced i think than just like are they making money or not um are legacy automakers lobbying to slow the adoption of evs slash phasing out ice or internal combustion engines um they say no i i talked to mary about this and i have my doubts to be totally honest like there is so much money in um like oil and and related lobby people lobbies lobbies um but it would be hard to imagine that they're not like in their ear a little bit uh these automakers know that like eventually it's going to be electric vehicles so they're trying to get ahead of themselves as much as possible i would say but at the end of the day like where is the money really coming from i don't know i don't know that's a great question though um [Music] from right across the hudson who's right across the hudson hello hello um not enough infrastructure to support a quick electric switch need millions of charging stations yeah i agree but i think that's also the responsibility of not just like tesla to put charging stations everywhere it needs to be like the gm's of the world it needs to be the fords of the world um i think the the issue sometimes with these huge investments and electric vehicles is that they're maybe investing in like the wrong tech they're investing in a sexy tech that's like we built this new thing that like well you know that sounds super cool but um at the end of the day nobody's gonna buy an electric vehicle if they can't charge it easily um i made a comment in these episodes about the first time i wrote in an ev and i did it my first live that went like uh but i rode in a tesla for the first time and we were going upstate in new york to like a cabin in the middle of nowhere and there was some serious concern like we needed to have a full battery as close as we could to this like little small town in the middle of nowhere upstate because like what if something went wrong um and it's not like you can just go to the nearest gas station with like a jug and fill it up and you'll figure it out or just like call triple a um there are some questions there oh like what do you do if you run out i'm sure people who own ev's have had experience with that i would love to hear your thoughts um my accent erodes the ozone layer why what does that mean i'm from north florida say y'all i don't know what to tell you guys but my mom's from brooklyn so i don't really feel like i have that crazy of an accent and i don't think it's eroding the ozone layer spack environment everyone rushing to go public yes dangerously so um one wonder what y'all's thoughts are on spax if anybody has any um passionate ideas and thoughts and feedback on this like spack world we live in definitely want to hear from you we've made some episodes about like kind like about the process of going public i spoke with um adina friedman from nasdaq and she kind of spoke to it a little bit but i would love to maybe explore making some specs specific episodes that's a fun one say that seven times fast spac specific uh valley charging services are trying to form where they come pick up your vehicle to charge interesting that could work it sounds expensive though like imagine if you had a valet service to go like fill up your tank with gas um that would be weird very interesting loophole tool being a bit abused investors are rushing in blind about facts i'm assuming yeah completely agree i think it's like i don't know i'm sure that in 10 15 20 years from now when people go to b-school they'll be learning about the season of spax in 2020 um and what the implications are for business on the whole but also um like the public markets as an entity as they exist and and their whole like reason for existing i think that will be pretty interesting to see um okay so i hope that i got to most of these questions here i'm just scrolling through really quickly um but again i hope you all are having a fantastic fantastic friday um i'm gonna go like try to troubleshoot twitter kicking me off of live all the time uh send a complaint into jack dorsey if anybody knows him also love to have
